Yucatan has 48 recognized sports associations that rule the performance of some semi – professional level sports inside the state. The Yucatan State Sports Institute (IDEY in Spanish) is the organization that generates and govern the practice and development for the sports in Yucatan.


Kukulcan Sports Unit

Founded in 1981, is the biggest sports unit of Yucatan, with a baseball stadium, a football stadium and a forum. This sports unit also has the needed infrastructure to carry out professional competition of Swimming, Dive, Soccer, Softball, Baseball, Basketball, Volleyball, Tennis, Aerobics, Box, Cycling and Karate.

Open Monday to Friday 6:00 to 21:00 hours, Saturday, Sunday and holidays 6:00 to 18:00 hours.


General Salvador Alvarado Stadium

Funded in February 1st, 1939, is one of the most popular stadiums by the Yucatan sportsmen who reached triumph and practiced here. It was also training headquarters of Ana Gabriela Guevara and some other great Mexican athletes.

The Salvador Alvarado Stadium, in its 75 years open, has had multiple sports feats. It is a public space where people go to run, walk, take lessons of dance, basketball, soccer, taebo, etc.

The Stadium has every element needed to practice different sports, like Swimming, Synchronized Swimming, Aqua Polo, Athletics, Tennis, Aerobics, Softball, Basketball, Box, Chez, Tae Kwon Do, Baseball, Taebo and Dance.

It is open every day from 6:00 to 23:00 hours.


Inalambrica Olympic Sports Complex

Funded on 1999, this complex is considerate one of the best thanks to its wide spaces and facilities. In Inalambrica, Handball, Football, Tae Kwon Do, Archery, Hockey and Skating can be practiced.

Open Monday to Sunday from 6:00 to 21:00 hours.


Rowing and Canoeing International Track

Thanks to its natural characteristics, this track, funded on 1999, is considered one of the most important tracks of America.

In it, several national and international competitions had been carrying out, like the Canoeing Pan-American Championship of 2001, the CANAMEX Rowing Championship, and two national young Olympics. Nowadays it is guaranteed by rowing and canoeing national and international associations. It has the needed infrastructure to carry out such disciplines.

Located on the 34 kilometer of the Merida – Progreso highway; open Monday to Saturday, 8:00 to 18:00 hours.


Benito Juarez Garcia Sport Unit

Rhythmic gymnastics has its house in this sports unit as the Technical School of gymnastics, directed by the Bulgarian Ivanka Kostova Tchakarova, complements it.

It also can offer the facilities needed to practice Swimming, Soccer, Softball, Hockey, Aerobics, Tae Kwon do, Basketball, Volleyball, Chez, Tennis and Fencing.

Open every day, 6:00 to 24:00 hours.


Solidaridad Gym

Funded on march, 1993, this gym has been the home of several sports delegations who participated on the Olympic Games; Gymnastics, Tae Kwon Do, Aerobics, Wrestling, Dance, Chez, Taebo and Badminton can be practiced in here.

Open Monday to Friday, 7:30 to 21:00 hours, and Saturday 8:00 to 13:00 hours.


Polifunctional Gym

One of the most important sports places of the state, headquarters of the Professional League of the Southeast. Funded on December 3rd, 1994, is able to receive Basketball, Gymnastics, Aerobics, Taebo and Dance teams.

Open Monday to Friday 8:00 to 20:00 hours, and Saturday 8:00 to 13:00 hours.
